Our dances are a great place to meet people!
People: Our members are people like you. They are all single, and enjoy meeting and getting to know other single people. They are in their 30's or older. Approximately 8% of the people at our dances are there for the their first time.
Admission
Price: Admission is $8.00
for most dances when we have
a disc jockey. For some special
dances admission when we have
a disc jockey, admission will
be $9.00. Our regular disc
jockey is radio personality.
He is probably Central Pennsylvania's
best disc jockey. On Band
Nights, the admission price
is $10.00. The bands that
most often perform are The
Citations, The Headliners,
and SAXY. They are proven
crowd pleasers. From time
to time, we try another band.
Dress: Dress to impress. Dress is casual to dress-up. Men generally wear sport shirts and slacks, although some wear sport jackets and ties. Women generally wear blouses and skirts, or dresses. Sneakers, jeans, flip flops and sloppy clothes are discouraged.
Dance Format: The New Singles crowd enjoy being with other singles, mixing and dancing. With a few exceptions, they are not expert ballroom dancers. Our dance format includes fast dances about 50% of the time and slow dances about 50% of the time. A few line dances are mixed in. The popular Paul Jones dance is run each dance at about 8, 9 and 10 p.m. This is a mixer, which affords the opportunity to meet and dance a short time with persons who may not have met otherwise.
Music: It generally top 40, with a lot of oldies, but goodies. Live bands provide the music at some dances; for example, the first and second Sundays of each month are generally "band nights." The popular disc jockey, Ray Thomas, provides the music for most dances when there is no band. The music is selected to appeal to a wide variety of people. In addition to top 40 tunes, a few country and line dance numbers are mixed in. There is some music that appeals to everybody.
Food and Drink: A cash bar can be found at all dances. Prices are similar to that charged at the regular bar at the location where the dance is held. There is a limited amount of free snacks provided. Unually, this means potato chips and pretzels. Beverages and food may not be brought to the dances.
Management: The dances in the Harrisburg (New Cumberland) and York areas are owned and operated by Pat & Sid. Dances in the Lancaster area are owned and operated by Sid. As such, the dances are a private enterprise and are not operated by the facilities in which they run. Management retains the right to refuse admission or service to any person for any reason
